The Wedding Feast of Cana
Everyone is celebrating and enjoying themselves and all of a
sudden they are out of wine. The concern is what is going to
happen now? How can they continue the celebration without the
Wine. But thanks to the intercession of the Blessed Mother and
Jesus, the celebration continues with joy and renewed hope.
The prophet Elijah is about to leave and Elisha, his successor, asks for some of his power. Elijah leaves his cloak and some of his power to the new prophet.
--1Corinthians 13 -- about Faith Hope & Love,The greatest of these is Love.
-- Jesus's famous words about "loving one another as I have loved you"
-- Jesus's return visits (ie Mary Magdalene saw him after he was buried),,,Father Frank
can still come back to visit St Brigid's and the parishioners can spread his love
& peace to others as Father Frank & Jesus both taught us humans. ,(ie as
Father Frank & Jesus have both loved them)
"I will always be with you."
Jesus leaving the apostles . They have spent time with him being trained in
ministry. Now they must carry on the work. He leaves them with the promise to send the Holy Spirit to help them. Watch out, St Brigid parishioners at Pentecost -- you might truly see tongues of fire!
My favorite bible verses are the occasions when Mary 'pondered it in her
heart' when she recognized something that Jesus did. And this transition
makes me ponder in my heart the things I learned from Father Frank.
I will never forget him.
On the one hand it feels like the Ascension when Jesus leaves his disciples
to continue his work, assuring them that he is with them always. On the
other hand it feels like John the Baptist telling his disciples that they
have a new leader to follow.
The Disciples on the road to Emmaus didn't recognize Jesus
until the breaking of the bread. We have seen Jesus many
times as Father Frank stood before us celebrating mass and
giving communion. We will see Jesus again when Father Ralph
stands before us at St. Brigid, celebrates mass with us and
we receive holy communion. Then we will continue our journey
as disciples of Jesus.
St. Luke's account of the Ascension. Jesus departed after blessing them. And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy!
When Jesus said I leave you but I will be always with you, I will go to my
Father. Though Fr. Frank is leaving, we will have someone with us who
will do our Lord's commands to lead his people.
Not really a "story", but a simple line:
"Be still and know that I am God"
When I think of the absence of the Father Frank, it reminds me of the stories
of the bible in which the last day of Jesus on earth, as a man among us is
described. He left us as a man, but his presence is always felt.
Father Frank's presence, faith, love, jokes and spirit will always be with
us. Jesus Evenings, Multicultural Services, his presence at the many
cultural activities held by the Hispanic community to which I belong. The
group weddings ceremony, first at St. Brigid last year. There were 5
couples, this year there were 8 couples.
St. Paul's journeys to the different communities
Fr. Frank is following God's wishes the way Abraham obeyed God's commands.
Noah's ark... When they gather the people, animals and go on 'faith' only.
I feel like the sheep who lost its shepherd....
The one with the meaning "A little child shall lead them." Except this
little child is more grown up. Fr. Frank will lead us through this
transition like he has helped us through everything before.
Jesus telling us to love one another, to be a family.
