• If you’d like to read the actual bill, it’s hard to find online. So we’ve posted it here.
• Something Easy: go online to www.nyscatholic.org and click on the “Take Action Now” link. Then click on the “Stop the Extreme Abortion Proposal “ button. You’ll find a
pre-written letter than will automatically be sent as an e-mail, or you can print it out and mail it. The site allows you to edit or re-write the letter.
I suggest that you write it in your own words-- if our legislator is accurate when he says that he doesn’t pay much
attention to these kinds of organized campaigns, it would be best to write your own thoughts on the matter.
• Something more effective. It’s the “old-fashioned” letter that you mail.
Write to the officials below and send them your own letter telling them why you oppose the Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act (RHAPP).
IMPORTANT: Be polite. (I’m sometimes embarrassed by copies of letters that people send me that they have sent to legislators. They use foul language, they make cruel accusations, they bully -- after you write a letter, ask yourself if this is the kind of letter Jesus would send?) We want to be strong in defending life, but we want to do it in a life-affirming way.
Who to write to:
Governor David Paterson
David A. Paterson
State Capitol
Albany, NY 12224
The governor doesn’t vote on this bill. If it is passed he can either sign it or veto it. He is in favor of the bill so it’s important for him to know that citizens of New York find it objectionable.
There are three senators in our area:
Craig Johnson (District 7)
151 Herricks Road, Suite 202
Garden City Park, NY 11040
Senator Johnson is one of the co-sponsors of this bill so his constituents ought to let him know their concerns about this proposed legislation.
Carl Marcellino (District 5)
250 Townsend Square 224
Oyster Bay, NY 11771
Kemp Hannon (District 6)
7th Street,
Garden City, NY 11530
There are several memers of the assembly in our area:
Rob Walker (15th District)
111 Levittown Parkway
Hicksville, NY 11801
Michelle Schimel (16th District)
45 North Station Plaza
Great Neck, NY 11021
Charles Levine (13th District)
70 Glen St.
Suite 203 Suite 100

We elect these senators and members of the assembly.
We trust they want to know our opinions and that they will respect and listen to us as citizens.
Now is the time to be heard.
