Lease vs. Buy
When putting in the new phone system, we had to face the fact that we’ve run out of money for the summer. So we’re temporarily leasing the equipment until we can buy it outright. Do you know of any foundation or grant that could help us out?

Today’s Bible Quote

Columns from 2001

During August at St. Brigid’s the music ministers take a break leaving us eagerly awaiting their return in September. Alas this year, Mary Jane Witte who has been music director at St. Brigid’s is moving on to a new job teaching music a Kellenberg High School and won’t be returning next month. We thank Mary Jane for her leadership and laughter and the many ways she reached out to so many in our community with her gifts of music, compassion and understanding.

Yet Alleluias can still ring out, for Mary Jane’s successor is no stranger to us: Susan Porteus, who has been our organist for nearly ten years, is becoming our new music director. Susan has already begun to meet with engaged couples to plan their wedding music and will continue to work with the different cantors and music ministers for the different liturgical celebrations at St. Brigid’s. Susan is delight to work with and she’ll bring her own gifts and experience to her new position.

You may have noticed that Susan’s position has changed physically as well -- over the past week, the organ has been moved to the north transcept. In its old position, it was difficult for an organist to see what was happening in the sanctuary and in its new position, Susan will able to be closer to the choirs she’ll be working with. With this move, we gain extra seating in the main part of the church -- we’ll leave some of the seating area flexible so that there is a place for people in wheelchairs, when needed.

The next few weeks will be a little quieter than usual around here, But have no fear...in a short time we’ll again be ringing the rafters with sounds of the praise of the Lord!
