On Sunday, July 1, 2001, Father Ralph greeted the Haitian community in these words:

Je ne peux pas trouver les mots pour exprimer ma joie d'etre avec vous comme votre pasteur.C'est vrai. Surtout parce que je ne peux pas parler Creole et la seule raison pour laquelle je peux prononcer ces quelques mots c'est parce qu'un ami m'a aide a preparer ce salut. Alors, je le dis encore je ne peux pas trouver les mots pour exprimer ma joie d'etre parmi vous.

Mais moi,je suis plein de joie! Cette joie vient du fait que la paroisse de
Sainte Brigitte accueille des gens de tous les pays et de toutes les nations et cultures.

La communaute haitienne apporte ses propres dons et ses propres tresors a notre paroisse et j'espere que vous me montrerez comment apprecier ces dons.

Je ferai tout mon possible pour aider Pere Cine , Soeur Cecille, Soeur
Marcelle et toute la communaute a repandre l'amour de Jesus.

Je chercherai des moyens d'aider la grande communaute a apprecier la foi puissante et l'amour que vous avez et je vous inviterai a eprouver l'amour et le soutien de tous les freres et de toutes les soeurs de toutes les cultures de notre paroisse.

Que Dieu nous benisse, nous tous et nous toutes pendant que nous travaillons ensemble a epandre L'evangile de Jesus Christ aujourd'hui et a l'avenir.

(Translation):

Words cannot express my joy at being with you as your new pastor. It's
true! Especially since I cannot speak Creole and the only reason I can
say these few words in French is because a friend has helped me prepare
this greeting. So I say it again -- Words cannot express my joy at
being with you.

But I am filled with joy! This joy comes from knowing that St. Brigid's
parish welcomes people from every land and culture. The Hatian
community brings its own gifts and treasures to our parish and I hope
you will teach me how to appreciate those gifts.

I will do all I can to support Father Cine, Sister Cecilia and Sister Marcelle and this entire community as you spread the love of Jesus.
I will look for ways to help the larger community apppreciate the strong
faith and love you have, and invite you to experience the gifts, the
love and the support of all the brothers and sisters of all cultures in
our parish.

May God bless us all as we work together to spread the Good News
of Jesus Christ in the days and years ahead.
