In January 2010 a devastating earthquake struck Haiti and killed hundreds of thousands of people, including many relatives and friends of our parishioners. We are grateful that Father Syriaque Cine, who served at St. Brigid's, was unharmed. But many priests and sisters lost their lives. Half of the sisters who make up the Religious Order, Fils de Marie, which is the order of Sister Bruno and Sister Cecilia, were killed.

Father Wismick went to Haiti during the week following the earthquake and brought back these photos.

Notice the license plate of the car that was crushed by this building.
People have been sleeping outside since the earthquake.

The buildings that remain standing are so unstable that they cannot be occupied.
