Saint Brigid/Our Lady of Hope School Goes to Washington DC
In October 2006 the students in 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade, their teachers, parent chaperones and Father Ralph toured Washington DC on an educational and spiritual trip. Here are some photos...
   
             
                                     

We started our jouney at the new Air & Space Museum (near Dulles Airport)

We ate dinner the first night at the Columbia Marina.
It was a BBQ dinner.
We played football, volleyball, frisbee.

       
                   
                               
           
Next morning it was breakfast at the hotel.
 
                               
   
We stopped off to see the president but he was busy running the nation.

Then we went to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

We also visited the altar of Our Lady of Hope.

One of the tour guides in the basilica showed us Our Lady of Africa Chapel.    
     
 
We all stopped for a photo on the steps of the basilica.  

Then we went to the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center where there were interactive, hands-on displays.

In the evening we visited a number of monuments. Here we are at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt memorial.

...though we didn't need to because we ate dinner at the Terrace Restaurant at the top of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts where we also saw a concert.

We visited Arlington National Cemetery.

Here is the grave of President Kennedy, his wife and two of their children.

                           
We arrived in time for the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
             
                               
 
   

We passed hundreds and hundreds of graves of soldiers killed in wars. It was very sad.
