The current Pastoral Council
of St Brigid's began to meet in the Fall of 2004 with the charge of looking
at the directions the parish ought to move in throughout the next decade.
The first step in this process is to identify our current priorities.
We have come up with a draft of eight priorities and now ask the whole
parish community to examine these.
• Do you see these as the priorities of St. Brigid's?
• Do you wish to see another priority on the list?
You can see these priorities on this website and give us instant
feedback.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Draft of Priorities for The Parish of
St. Brigid • Spring 2005
1. Unity • Diversity
We
strive to be a community of inclusive love that
recognizes, accepts, respects and celebrates
the diversity among the many
ethnic, cultural and social communities
within our parish.
We create a sense of unity and belonging
which is essential to our identity as a
family of God.
2.
Young People
We
continue to develop programs and activities
that help our youth grow spiritually,
sacramentally, and socially
so they may become and remain
active members of our faith.
3.
Spirituality • Liturgy
We
are a parish that comes together to worship, to pray, to celebrate the
Eucharist in a vibrant and meaningful way.
We
need to keep our knowledge of the faith
current and vital through opportunities that enrich prayer life and the
understanding of our faith.
4.
Social Justice
We
promote the dignity of all people and
work for the common good
as we help people to reach their
human potential striving for
respect, security, participation, and solidarity.
We minister to the physical,
spiritual, social and psychological needs of those
who are not able to provide for themselves.
5.
Reaching Out (Evangelization)
We
are a community that celebrates God in our
everyday lives.
We
reach out to all to invite them to experience
the joy of our faith, especially:
• those who have lost their faith or wandered away
• those who have lost their trust in the church
• those who who are unaware of the wonders and
beauty and strength of our faith.
6.
Active Participation
We
are more than “registered” in the parish.
We belong.
We are the stewards of the parish
--
while we are nourished here in so many ways,
we have a real responsibility to nourish others by sharing our time and
talent as we do
the work of Jesus.
We best celebrate this belonging
at the Eucharist
each week.
7.
Financial Health
We
give to the church not only our time and talent,
but also our treasure.
We
seek to ensure that the parish has enough money to fulfill its mission,
to meet its priorities.
8.
Buildings and Grounds
Our
worship requires sacred space,
with room for all who come,
our ministries require productive space.
We
work to ensure that the physical spaces
of the parish serve their functions
effectively, efficiently, and aesthetically..
