1. He grew up in the village of St. James, his home parish being Sts. Philip and James where his parents still live.
2. After attending the local parish elementary school, he went to
St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington and then
Fordham University’
s Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx.
3. While at Fordham, Fr. Greg was a NYS licensed EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and served as the campus Emergency Medical Services Director.
(We think that means that if you have a heart attack when he's anointing you, he can also do CPR! How's that for a full service priest?)
4. Fr. Greg Rannazzisi is (obviously) of Italian descent on his father’s side (from Palermo) but his mother’s family is Irish (County Mayo). Thus, he enjoys the best of both worlds!
5. He is the youngest of three children, with an older brother who is married and has a son. They live in Los Angeles. His sister is engaged to be married in December and lives on Long Island.

6. He’s an unabashed, life-long Yankees fan. However, since he is also a true New York supporter, he’ll always cheer for the Mets, too…just not in a subway series!
7. For the past five years, Fr. Greg has lived at the Pontifical North American College in Rome while studying at the Gregorian University.
One of the famous professors at the Gregorian University.
8. He can “get by” in Italian and Spanish and hopes to work on Kreyol soon!
9. Yes, Fr. Greg has met the Pope a couple times and even served Mass for him on
January 1, 2008.

10. Finally, and most importantly, Fr. Greg is very excited about coming to the Parish of St. Brigid’s to serve as a priest and share Christ’s presence with the community through the sacraments and the teachings of the Church!

And we're very happy to welcome Father Greg to encounter Christ among us!

So, brothers and sister, this "top ten" list about our newest priest will begin to answer the question he posed last September in a homily.
