My Travels in England
I had one day to visit London -- not much time for such a varied city. But I did get to see the sights and visit a few memorable institutions. Here are some photos.
Here I am with "Big Ben". I hear the Westminster chimes each day at St. Brigid's, but today I heard the "original".
We began our London Journey early in the morning at the Bath railroad station. It's about 1 1/2 hours from Bath to London by train.
Buckingham Palace. The queen was in, but we didn't have time to take tea with her.
This is Millennium Bridge, crossing the Thames River. St. Paul's Cathedral is in the distance.
St. Paul's -- the famous church designed by Christopher Wren
The trees have yet to bud, but crowds of daffodils signal that spring is happening.

Street performers abound on the promenade along the Thames.

It's hard to explain this set of photos. They were taken in a modern art museum "The Tate Modern". The huge electronic sun cast a glow on this huge room. The ceiling is morrored and the piture to the right is what it loks like to look up into the ceiling. The bright white spot is is my camera flash. It was maginificent.
We went to Sunday mass at Westminster Cathedral (a bizzare baroque building started only 100 years ago and still being completed.)

This is the "Tower Bridge" (NOT "London Bridge" which is in Arizona).
This bridge is not falling down.

The market at Covent gardens. Lots of "atmosphere", street performers, merchants, etc.
