Updates

There are three areas I’d like to update everyone on this week:

Debt Reduction: We are closer than ever to meeting our goal. We are within $100,000 of retiring the debt. We’re hoping that we could get 96 more donors to give $1,000 each to help us to meet our goal by the end of the month. If a family could give less (or more) that certainly would help too. In fact we’ve received many donations of smaller amounts and all of that has added up. We are very grateful to the hundreds of people who have brought our total donations to $203, 263. We are looking forward to receiving the additional $100,000 at the end of this month. If you have not already given something to help us, please take a moment this week to do so.

St Anthony’s Hall:We’ve been having regular planning meetings to go over the plans for the renovation of the second floor of St. Anthony’s. We’re planning on creating some very nice meeting spaces for parish groups using much of the original materials in this building which used to be the church and later the school for St. Brigid’s. We recently received a loan of a storage container from Jamaica Ash and now we need to fill it with donated materials that will make our volunteer project a reality. We want to expand our “procurement commitee” so we can go out and seek out donations of needed materials (plumbing supplies, tile, flooring, lumber, etc.) that have been specified by the architect. If you have time available, please let me know that you’re interested in helping on this sub-committee. We also would like to hear from you if you have experience with radiant heating as we’re working on the design of the heating system at this time. You can email me at shepherd@saintbrigid.net or call me at 334-0021 ext115.

One Thousand Voices: Hundreds of people are gathering in homes across the parish during these three weeks during the first phase of our One Thousand Voices project. Our goal is to eventually have one thousand parishioners in conversation with each other, to grow in community, and to consider action for our future as a parish community. I’m grateful to all who have opened their homes to host and to those who are faciliting the groups. Even if you weren’t able to participate in a small group this time, please keep all in your prayers so that we’ll be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit,

Father Cine's Mother

Last weekend Father Cine was visiting Long Island from Haiti and while he was here his mother died. Please keep Father Cine and his family in your prayers. His mother’s name is Erzulia Jean-Louis (Mme. Franchil Cine).
If you wish to drop Fr. Cine a line of condolence, his email address is: syriacne64@hotmail.com
