The Pastoral Council met this past week to organize the hundreds of people who signed up for our One Thousand Voices campaign into small groups of ten. Each group will have a host home and a facilitator. Needless to say, it was a daunting task to accommodate everyone’s preferences and schedules but we are very successful so far in matching everyone up.
If you already signed up for the One Thousand Voices project, you ought to hear from your group’s facilitator in the next few days to let you know where your group will meet and at what time. (If you don’t hear by Wednesday, call and leave a message on the voice mail at (516)334-0021 ext148.)
If you didn’t sign up yet, there are a few groups that could use a few more members to bring the number up to ten. Here is a list of open groups (in English)...
Monday Daytime: October 19, 26 & November 2
Monday Evening: October 19, 26 & November 2
Tuesday Daytime: October 20, 27 & November 3
Wednesday Daytime: October 21, 28 & November 4
Friday Evening: October 23, 30 & November 6
Saturday Daytime: October 24, 31 (Halloween) & November 7
If you’re able to join one of these groups, please e-mail me right away at shepherd@saintbrigid.net or leave a voice mail at (516)334-0021 ext 148 and leave a detailed message including your name and phone number and which time you’d like to attend a group. Someone will get back to you.
In case you missed earlier announcements about what this is about, here is a review: Groups of ten parishioners meet over a three-week period to get to know others in our parish -- it’s a way of our big parish becoming more relational...we look at who we are and where we’d like to go in the future. Groups will help to discern an action plan for the year 2010 and beyond. It’s really important to have adults (including young adults) share their voices since we’re all in this parish together and together we can walk into our future with a common vision and action.

We’re slowly closing the debt gap at St. Brigid’s. We owe $400,000 and over $100,000 has been contributed by generous parishioners. It’s a tough time to ask for financial help because so many people are out of work. Many come to us for help with food and other necessities. So I’m grateful to all who have made a sacrifice to help us pay off the debt. If you can make a donation, please so so this week.
