"Sounds Like Fun"

Since announcing the “One Thousand Voices” project last week, I’ve been getting lots of nice feedback -- and some questions too. First, some feedback...

What a great idea. We pray together all the time with people we don’t know, and this is a chance to get to know others in our parish at least a little bit.”....... “I’m definitely doing this -- I’m a high school senior and this is my parish and I want my voice to be heard so I’ll definitely be inviting other people my age.”.... “This sounds like fun.”

The questions: “Why are we doing this?...How long are the sessions?...Can we meet in the daytime?...Can I sign up friends?...Um, what is this again?”

This” is simply a chance for parishioners to connect to one another more. Imagine what it will be like for a thousand parishioners to have come to know each other a little more. What will it do to the quality of our relationships as people who pray together and serve together? How will this affect the way we are “one Body in Christ?” It’s really quite simple. During the weeks of October 18, 25 and November 1st, 100 groups of ten people each will meet in homes throughout the parish. Each meeting will last approximately 90 minutes. Meetings can be in the day or evening. (Last week’s sign up card omitted this choice. We’ll presume evening, but if you prefer daytime, please call the office and we’ll make a note of that.)

We definitely hope you’ll sign up friends. Ask them to either complete one of the cards at church, or the form on page XX in the bulletin or if they have internet access, go to www.saintbrigid.net/1000 and sign up online.

Besides getting to know others -- and that’s a major goal -- this is an opportunity to explore ways to get our parish more deeply connected to the concerns and hopes of our parishioners. If you haven’t already signed up to be one of the One Thousand Voices, please do so this week -- you get to pick the day you’d like to meet. Someone will contact you with the location of your meeting.

Father Augustine

Some people got an e-mail allegedly from Fr. Augustine's address book in which it claims that he was robbed in London and that you should send money. Father Augustine isn't in London and hasn't been robbed. This is a SCAM e-mail. Just delete it. He did write to thank everyone for their prayers for him and his family on the occasion of the death of his mother a month ago.
