I’m one of 1000 Voices

This weekend we begin signing up people for our One Thousand Voices project which will take place at the end of October. It’s really simple -- we’re looking to have 1,000 people gather in groups of 10 in people’s homes to have conversations. It’s a way for people in our large parish to get to know others. It’s a way that people can talk about ways to grow more deeply connected to what matters to them. It’s a way we can talk together about taking action to move our parish toward our future.

We have 100 facilitators prepared to lead the conversations and we invite you to pick a day/evening that’s best for you. The groups will meet three times -- once a week during the weeks of October 18, October 25 and November 1st. We’re also looking for 100 homes to host these conversations.

There is an opportunity to sign up after mass today. Just take a moment at the doors of the church or chapel to sign up for your best day/evening. Someone will contact you in the weeks ahead with the location of your meeting. (And if you want to volunteer to host, you can check that on the card too.) You can signup online at www.saintbrigid.net/1000

We all live incredibly busy lives -- and I’m particularly thinking of parents with young children -- and there are many things that call for our urgent attention. Yet sometimes it’s important to step out of the busy-ness and do some important things that are not so urgent. This is one of these times.

I hear from some parishioners that while they are happy to belong to St. Brigid’s, they still are interested in our parish being a bit more “relational” -- that is, people want to know each other a little more. We do say we are “brothers and sisters in Christ,” yet often we don’t know the others that we are related to spiritually. The One Thousand Voices opportunity gives us all a chance to connect in a comfortable way. Please say “yes” to this opportunity.

I’m one of one thousand voices. Will you be one too?

A Grace Period

We’ve nearly reached $90,000 in contributions to our debt reduction campaign. The donor who’s offering $100,000 as a challenge grant has extended the deadline for receiving his money to the end of October, to give more people a chance to contribute toward retiring the remainder of the debt. So we still are looking to raise $110,000 to finish paying off the debt. Please consider making a contribution.
