Father Stan Chukwube has been wth us for the past couple of months as he was awaitingchis assignment as a hospital chaplain in Suffolk County. He will celebrate his last Sunday mass with us next Sunday at 11:30am. We’re grateful for his service here and wish him well as he brings his ministry to
the sick and those who minister to the
sick.
We were expecting a priest to be assigned full time to our parish (to replace Father Fitz who returned to the Philippines). There were 25 parishes looking for full time priests but
only 20 priests were available. We were one of the parishes that didn’t get a replacement. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Father Wismick -- who served at St. Brigid’s in past years -- is available to live in residence here while he goes to school. Father Wismick has generously agreed to help us with masses and other duties while he lives among us. Welcome home!
Each summer we welcome priests to minister at St. Brigid’s so the rest of us can get some vacation time. This year, we’re happy to welcome back two friends who have served in the past at St. Brigid’s: Father Anthony Bonsu, who has been a pastor in Ghana since he left us, and Father Augustine who again is escaping the heat of a Roman summer to
visit with us, his family and friends in St. Brigid’s. They’ll both be arriving at the end of June and will stay
into August.
Welcome back!

After many years of braving the rain, snow, hot sun and traffic, Ida Cain is retiring as our Sunday morning crossing guard. Next Sunday will be her last Sunday in front of St. Brigid’s and we’ll have a farewell blessing at the end of the 8:30am , 10am and 11:30am Masses. Feel free to bring along a note or card and tell Ida how much her cheery greetings and safe passage has meant.
Don’t forget our special parish night with the Montfort Fathers to complete our Corpus Christi celebration. It starts at 7:30pm in the school. All encouraged to attend.
