We are one body

Next weekend we welcome back Father Jerry Fitzsimmons and the Montfort Missionaries who are coming to do a mini-follow-up to our Lenten Mission. They will be speaking at all the masses and offering a special night on Monday, June 15th. All of this will help us celebrate the Feast of The Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) in which we again celebrate how we are the Body of Christ -- many though we we are, we are one Body in Christ.

The weekend’s festivities include processions with the Blessed Sacrament. The first takes place after the 8:30 Mass and will go through Breezy Hill. The second takes place at the school following the 12:15 Mass (starting around 1:15pm). The third opportunity to join a procession is after the 2:30 Mass at the church.

The final “station” of our procession will take place on Monday night at the close of our special evening at the school where we’ll have a candlelight procession with the Blessed Sacrament on the hill just outside the school entrance.

Whether you were able to attend the Lenten Mission or not, you’re invited to come to the Corpus Christi Evening where there will be presentations in different rooms of the school in different languages (English, Spanish, Kreyol) and then a procession which will join all of us together.

Saint Brigid’s parish is unique in many ways but one way is our desire and ability to join together as one to worship God and to live as one community, while at the same time rejoicing in the diversity that is God’s gift to us. One year ago on June 1, 2008 close to 300 parishioners gathered to share their hopes for the future of our parish. One thing we clearly heard was that there was an increased desire for people to grow in relationship with one another as a church community. This special evening is another opportunity to grow as one faith family.

We’ll begin at 7:30pm in the school on Maple Ave and we ask you to invite family members, neighbors and friends to attend.

Easter's Over

Now that the Easter season is over, I want to thank all who made it such a joyful 50 days, especially all those in music ministry and all those who helped hundreds of our children celebrate their Confirmation and first communions. This past week Bishop Peter Libasci celebrated first communion with our young people. Please continue to pray for them and their families as they live out the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thanks too, to all who decorated the church during these weeks of Easter.
