Each year at St. Brigid’s, we offer something special during the season of Lent to foster our spiritual and communal growth. This year we’re glad to welcome the Montfort Missionary Fathers to give a mission retreat in our parish.
Since the Montforts are an international order, they’re able to bring priests who can minister to the special needs of our parish -- especially when it comes to the different languages we pray in. The Mission will also have a multi-generational approach so that we can offer it to children and adults.
Here are some details. The Montfort Fathers will be preaching at the different masses both next weekend and the Weekend of March 21/22. You’ll get to meet them and pray for them as they prepare to come to our parish. During the daytimes of the mission week (March 23-26) they will visit our school in the morning and our Religious Education Program in the afternoon. Parents of Religious Education students are asked to stay during their children’s Religious Ed session so that they can experience the mission with their children.
There will be some special evening presentations. Monday (March 23) will be “Italian night” in the church. Tuesday (March 24th) will be teen night, with the rather famous Father Frank Pizarelli from Hope House Ministries. And on ALL the nights of the mission (Monday thru Wednesday) the main mission presentation will be offered in the school in three rooms -- one in English, one in Spanish, one in Kreyol. On Thursday (March 26th) the highlight of the Mission will be a concelebrated mass in Code Auditorium.
For those who cannot come out in the evenings, the Montfort Fathers will make a brief mission presentation after the 12:10 Mass each day. (There will be no confessions following the mass on Monday and Tuesday, but extra priests will be available on Wednesday for a Penance Service.)
Please pray for the success of this Mission and -- to make it personally successful -- plan on attending during the Mission week. It will be a great opportunity to grow spiritually and communally. Though we are many, we are one Body in Christ.

You may have noticed that people throughout the neighborhood have been putting Lenten Mission flyers in their windows to indicate that they’re praying for the success of our upcoming Mission (the week of March 22nd).
You too can help by praying for the mission’s success and by putting the flyer (found in the bulletin) in your window too.
