Where do you belong?

Heart Report
It’s almost a year since my heart attack and I just got back all the results of recent heart tests and my cardiologist tells me that everything is normal again. So all those prayers (not to mention the meds, diet and exercise) have paid off and I’m glad to say I’m feeling very well and that I’m grateful to God for the clean bill of health and a chance to continue to serve for many years to come.
So keep the prayers coming.
Away this Week
I’ll be taking a few days away this week as my classmates and I are gathering for presumably the last of our 25th anniversary celebrations. So I’ll turn the phone off, enjoy the company of my “brothers” and be back next weekend.
Please take care of the place for me while I’m away.

Take a look at this little diagram:

Let’s name the little group of figures on the right “the church.” So, where are you in this diagram? United in the church? Are you the figure toward the left? And if you’re in the church, who in your life is the person who’s outside?

Let’s now name the little group of figures on the right “the future.” Some people are comfortable living as the future unfolds. Others are dragged into the future without their participation. Others won’t even go that far. So where are you as far as the future is concerned? Are you among the folks who are concerned about the future of our planet...the future of the economy....the future of your family...the future of our parish....etc. Or are you satisfied that others are dealing with these things?

This Sunday afternoon, June 1st, we’re gathering with parishioners to consider how we belong and what are future might hold in store for us. Come join us in Code Auditorium in the school at 4pm (we’ll start promptly on time so we can be done by 5:54 in time for the 6pm mass). Babysitting is available -- if you’re using this service, please arrive by 3:45 so your children can get settled.

The afternoon will be a relaxed way to get to know each other more -- for we all are one body in Christ, yet we really know so few of our brothers and sisters. And we’ll have a chance to share a vision for our parish.

I hope you’ll be able to be part of this process.
