Celebrating Kelly

Out of Action
While the bulletin was going to press, Father Ralph was readmitted to the hospital with chest pains. It turns out that it wasn't another heart attack -- just the effects of inflamation from the heart attack. He expects to be released by the time you read this. Please keep the prayers coming.

Remembering the Parish While Traveling
If you’re going to be away this summer, please remember to support our parish during the summer months. Our bills don’t go away -- just some of our people! And be sure to invite any houseguests to mass with you when you’re hosting visitors from out of town.

Online Masses

We are now able to stream masses and other events live over the internet to homebound folks and to relatives who live in other lands. If you’re interested in this, in this, click here.

For the past five years Kelly Kraemer has been one of our Directors of Religious Education with special emphasis on First Communion, Special Education and the early grade levels. This weekend we send her off with God’s blessings and our love as she begins a new chapter in her life as a member of the Religious Education staff in another parish.

Kelly has offered her lively and welcoming presence to countless families and children, many of whom were entering our Religious Education Program for the first time. Kelly also became a trainer for the Virtus Program, a program which promotes safety of our young people by teaching staff, volunteers and parishioners about ways to evaluate behaviors toward young people and to prevent abuse.

Parents found in Kelly an ally in raising children in the faith. As a mother and a parishioner, Kelly could relate to other parents’ concerns and questions and could advocate for them in areas that went beyond the scope of Religious Education. This wasn’t unusual because Kelly didn’t consider her role as a Director of Religious Education a job, but rather a ministry of care and support for people of all ages.

Today we gather at the 10am Mass to ask God to bless Kelly on her journey ahead and to thank her for her ministry among us.

Some have asked if we are going to replace Kelly with a new director. At this time the current directors Sister Ann Horn, Socorro Moreno and Meg Westfall have worked to rearrange their areas of responsibility to cover the areas of Kelly’s ministry. I’m grateful to their generosity and the supprot of Barbara Budion, our Religious Education Secretary as we look forward to a new year in Religious Education in the fall. And as always, I’m most grateful to the many volunteer catechists who share their faith withour children and families.
