Psalm
for Every Occasion
I looked ahead to the psalm for today, Sunday July 8th. It’s Psalm
66:
Let
all the earth cry out to God with joy.
Shout joyfully to God, all the earth,
sing praise to the glory of his name;
proclaim his glorious praise.
Say to God, “How tremendous are your deeds!”
“Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you,
sing praise to your name!” Come and see the works of God,
his tremendous deeds among the children of Adam.
Hear now, all you who fear God, while I declare
what he has done for me.
Blessed be God who refused me not
my prayer or his kindness!
Just the way I need to pray after surviving a heart attack. Pick up
your bible and check out the psalms -- there are psalms for every occasion!

Remembering
the Parish While Traveling
If you’re going to be away this summer, please remember to support
our parish during the summer months. Our bills don’t go away --
just some of our people! And be sure to invite any houseguests to mass
with you when you’re hosting visitors from out of town.
Online Masses
We are now able to stream masses and other events live over the internet
to homebound folks and to relatives who live in other lands. If you’re

I’m
sure he meant well, but Father Jim Mannion over at Holy Family parish
put my name on the prayer list there after I had my heart attack last
week. Unfortunately they read my name at masses among the list of the
deceased!
I’m happy to say that I’m
not dead -- rather I’m on a relaxing vacation and feeling fine.
So many people wrote to say they are praying and asking if they could
do anything for me.
Well yes:
(1) I now have to take medication every day for the rest of my life. If
you could say a little prayer for me each day too, that would be very
healing. Daily prayers are more comforting than daily Plavix.
(2)Yes I already know I have to exercise and watch my diet.
(3) If you've ever had a heart attack, an angioplasty, a stent, etc.,
you know what this is like. If you know of friends and relatives who had
this, you probably also have some good stories. I'm always glad to share
experiences, but please keep away from stories like the one a hospital
visitor told me about a friend of his dying three days after getting his
stent. (Did he think this would cheer me up?)
(4) Yes I already know I have to exercise and watch my diet.
(5) Remember that I'm more than a "walking heart-attack". I'd
like to talk about other things too. So what's new in your life?
(6) Yes I already know I have to exercise and watch my diet.
(7) Come to church each week. Nothing does my heart more good than knowing
everyone in the "family" is together in prayer.
(8) Yes I already know I have to exercise and watch my diet.
(9) Take care of yourself. Exercise and watch your diet.
Visit the health
update page for more truthful updates on my condition. I’m really
not dead.
