Father Cine's Farewell
We gather at 2:30 Mass today for a final Sunday Mass with Father Cine who returns to Haiti this week after serving st. Brigid’s for the Past seven years.
A reception will take place at 4:30pm in Code Auditorium. All are welcomed.

Welcome Father Chacha
We are blessed that Father Cine was able to get another Montfort Father from Haiti to join our staff. He is Father Ronel Charelus, and he prefers to be called “Father Chacha” (pronounced
“sha-sha”)
--an affectionate form of the name Charelus.
So we welcome Father Chacha to our parish family.

Father John
As we announced at mass last week, Father John Derasmo has been asked by Bishop Murphy to accept the temporary position of administrator of Our Lady of Fatima in Manorhaven. We hope and pray for his speedy return to St. Brigid’s.

Online Masses

We are now able to stream masses and other events live over the internet to homebound folks and to relatives who live in other lands. If you’re interested in this, in this, click here.

Did you ever just want to have an informal conversation with a priest about life’s issues or spiritual or church questions? “But father is so busy!” you think. Well that may be true, but I love being busy by being with parishioners.

Each year I spend part of the summer, visiting folks in their homes in a little visit I call “Sommer in the Summer.” (My last name is Sommer.) My aim is to get to know parishioners a little better, to have informal conversations about issues that concern them -- whether they be spiritual concerns, questions about the church, issues with God, etc.

If you would like to host such a gathering, here’s how it works:
contact a few parishioners whom you’d like to invite to a “Sommer in the Summer” session. See what dates are good. Then contact me by e-mail: shepherd@saintbrigid.net. to arrange for a visit.
Usually a group of 8-12 people is good. (Twelve is best -- that worked well for Jesus.)
Once the date has been set, invite your guests to consider what issues they’d like to talk about or what questions they have.

Then prepare dessert and get ready for a nice time together.

Over the years I’ve done sessions in the evenings and on weekends but also in the daytime. Most times the gatherings have been with adults but sometimes I’ve met with a gathering of teens and young people.

I look forward to spending time around the parish in the next two months. I will be away on vacation the first two weeks in July so those weeks won’t be good. But “book now” so we don’t run out of summer!

And onenote about supporting the parish during the summer: If you’re going to be away on vacation, please continue to support our parish even when you’re gone. Alas, our bills don’t go away in the summer months.
