Super
Raffle Results
Our $10,000 Super Raffle resulted in a three-wat split. The winners
are Jack Rennison, Bob & Linda McGowan * Perry and Denise Vascellaro
(who I might add are brand new parishioners!) Actually EVERYONE who
contributed in this fundraiser is a winner since we were able to raise
nearly $10,000 for our school. Thank you.
Feast
of Some Saints
On All Saints Day Tony and Dominic Iannucci arrived with their crew
to re-pave the driveway and handicapped parking behind the church. They
donated their services and the parish Padre Pio Prayer Group, under
the guidance of Giuseppe Sposito donated the funds for materials. The
project has resulted in a more beautiful and safer entrance to our church.
On behalf of our parish I extend my thanks and gratitude to all who
were involved in this project.
Away
at College?
Are you or your child away at college? At St. Brigid’s we like
to stay in touch via occasional e-mails as we send photos and news from
“home”. College students wishing to be connected through
our “Letters from home” can sign up online here
or you can mail or
e-mail thecollege names and e-mail addresses to Father Ralph and he’ll
put them on the list.
Census
Continues
Of the approximate 6,000 families we usually send mail to, we’ve
received completed Census booklets from over 4,000. So we’ve got
a ways to go.
Is your booklet in?

One of
the parish priorities our Pastoral Council named was:
Young People: We continue to develop
programs and activities
that help our youth grow spiritually,
sacramentally, and socially
so they may become and remain
active members of our faith.
We’re getting busy about
this goal by beginning a new season of “Youth@SaintBrigid”,
our your ministry program designed for High School Students. Under the
leadership of Vince Buzzeo, Youth@SaintBrigid is designed to engage teens
in service, social, and spiritual aspects of life at St. Brigid’s.
The kick-off for our new season at St. Brigid’s begins with the
6pm Teen/Rock Mass next Sunday, November 12th, followed by a presentation
for teens (with a separate presentation for their parents at the same
time.) We’ll present the plan for activities for the year to come.
Now is the time for anyone who
knows a high school aged teen in our parish to act. If you’re a
neighbor or a friend to a family who has a teen, please DON’T “mind
your own business” -- rather, be enthusiastic and assertive and
invite that family to come to the Six next week and to stay for the youth
presentation.
I’ve already sent out hundreds
of invitation letters but now it takes a community to show our love and
interest in the future of our teens. If you’ve ever said, “I
wish there was something that our young people could get involved in,”
NOW is the time to act. Our older parishioners may remember earlier times
where parishes hosted“Confraternity Dances” -- well, those
days are long past. But what’s NOT past is a chance for our teens
to get together in our church community to spend good time with each other
and to grow in faith.
So, as a parish we can either worry
about the future of our parish and youth, or we can do something. Encouraging
young people and their families is one good step you can take this week.
Besides inviting them to the opening, invite them to check it out online
at www.saintbrigid.net/youth
