Fall Fix Up

Grazie Father Irinel
Father Irinel received word of his new assignment this past week and has already left for St. Matthew’s in Dix Hills where he will be assigned as associate pastor. We were thrilled to have his help these past few weeks and we wish him well in his new assignment.

Welcome Father Fitz
As I mentioned last week, we’re happy to have Father Fitz Azul join us as associate pastor. He moved in this past week -- just in time too, because Father John is going on retreat in Italy this coming week and I’m going to Washington DC for a few days with the staff and students from our school.
(Good luck Father Fitz!)

Super Raffle
We’re a couple of weeks away from giving away $10,000 in our “reverse raffle”. Only 250 tickets will be sold and there are only a few left. Each costs $100 and the proceeds support our school. Tickets available in the Parish Center.

Off to College?
Are you or your child away at college? At St. Brigid’s we like to stay in touch via occasional e-mails as we send photos and news from “home”. College students wishing to be connected through our “Letters from home” can sign up online here
or you can mail or
e-mail thecollege names and e-mail addresses to Father Ralph and he’ll put them on the list.

Census Continues
Of the approximate 6,000 families we usually send mail to, we’ve received completed Census booklets from over 4,000. So we’ve got a ways to go.
Is your booklet in?

With the change in seasons, many homeowners notice things around the house that need to be done and here at the “house of the Lord” it’s no different. Perhaps you have talent, time or materials that you could share in making our church property safe and beautiful.

Here are some assorted projects on the horizon...

Gardening. Our gardening committee always welcomes folks who like to garden -- the flower beds around the church and other buildings need fall cleaning, mulching, weeding, etc. If you’ve bought spring flowering bulbs for your yard and have some extras, we’d be happy to incorporate them into our church gardens too. You can drop off bulbs at the parish center and to get involved in gardening, call Annette McGrath (333-1631).

Fencing. I think the wooden fence between the parking lot and the rectory is on its last legs. Would anyone like to donate and/or install a new fence before winter? Call Rob Cammarata (334-0021 x136) or e-mail robc@saintbrigid.net to get a tour of the project.

Security. We’ve had a series of over-night burglaries over the last two months at the parish center. We recently had a security expert advise us as to a number of simple and inexpensive “fixes” that we’d like to put into place. If you’re a “handyperson” who has some time to give to this project, we would appreciate some help. (Experience with doors and locks is an obvious plus!) Please call Rob if you’d like to volunteer your time. (334-0021 ext 136) robc@saintbrigid.net

Buildings and Grounds Committee. Over the past few years we’ve had a group of parishioners advise us about the condition of the buildings and grounds. They’ve helped when we’ve needed to contract services for major projects. Recently we’ve hired an engineering firm to give us a more thorough examination of the systems in each of our buildings and they would like to present a report to our Building and Grounds Committee. If you have experience in buildings, electrical, plumbing, hvac, maintenance, etc. and would like to join our advisory committee, please let me know.
