No News Is...
Last week I noted that we were awaiting the deliberations of the Priest Personnel Board with regards to which (if any) priest would be assigned to St. Brigid’s when Father Jim leaves to become pastor of Holy Family in Hicksville. No news yet. Keep praying!

Pentecost Red
If you’d like to help make Pentecost more festive this year, why not dress in something red next Sunday when you come to mass? (Folks dress in green for “St Paddy’s Day” -- dressing in red on Pentecost is a similar custom to help celebrate the great feast that concludes the Easter Season.,) We will be confirming adults at the 7pm Saturday night Spanish Mass and at the 10am family Mass.
Please pray for those who will be receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit on this feast! .

Receptionist Position
After nearly two decades of serving our parish as our receptionist Therese Walsh will be retiring at the end of June. We are currently beginning a search for a new receptionist. The job description can be found online
or a copy is available at the parish center.
We’ll certainly miss Therese and we’ll be having a retirement party soon -- watch this space for details in a few weeks.

Census Continues
Of the approximate 6,000 families we usually send mail to, we’ve received completed Census booklets from over 4,000. So we’ve got a ways to go.
Is your booklet in?

For the past forty years Father Jack Waldron has served the people of God as a priest. For nearly eight of those years Father Jack has served at St. Brigid’s. Today, as we celebrate his 40th anniversary at the 11:30 Mass we ask God to bless him and we tell him how much we love him.

Though he is officially “retired”, each Saturday, Father Jack spends the day in the Parish Center, ministering to the needs of anyone who comes., He celebrates Sunday masses and then returns to celebrate the 12:10 Mass each Monday and celebrates the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Father Jack is fluent in Spanish and has ministered to the Spanish speaking community at St. Brigid’s as well. (That’s quite a “retirement”.) People are touched by his gentle manner, his obvious love for Jesus and for people. We pray that he will be blessed with good health and strength and that he will continue to be with us for many years to come.

+ + +
For eight months, Seminarian Gonzalo Lopez has been serving his Pastoral Year of preparation for the priesthood here at St. Brigid’s. Gonzalo has worked in so many aspects of our parish community. He has used his ability to speak English, Spanish and Italian to minister to so many -- from elderly Italian homebound people to the Spanish Youth group, from teaching in our Religious Education program to serving at mass, Gonzalo’s presence has been one of joy and unity. As he returns to the Seminary we celebrate his time with us at the 11:45 Spanish Mass next Sunday (June 4th) followed by a reception in Code Auditorium at 1pm. Come join us for some or all of the celebration for Gonzalo. We continue to pray for him on his journey to priesthood.
