Happy New Year!

Christmas Decorations
Christmas Decorations
Once again, our parishioner Tony Iannucci and his electrician friend Bill Moser of Wamco, along with their team of workers, donated and installed the icicle lights on the church. Many thanks for their hard work and generosity. The church looks beautiful each night.
The interior of our church is also beautiful. Thanks to the volunteers who strung lights, put up garlands, installed candles, prepared the Presepio, decorated with the wreaths and angels, put up the manger-- so much goes into preparing the church for the Feast of Christmas.
Thanks too to the Knights of Columbus for putting up the exterior manger and the “Keep Christ in Christmas” sign.
Of course we’ll be keeping the decorations up throughout the Christmas season.

Census Continues
Of the approximate 6,000 families we usually send mail to, we’ve received completed Census booklets from just over 2,000. So we’ve got a ways to go.
Is your booklet in?

What will the new year bring? The old year filled with war and hurricanes and $3 a gallon gas has just passed and we have hope that as a new year begins we’ll have peace and prosperity, health and happiness.

Now these things don’t “just happen” as if our years are guided by luck. We participate in the destiny of the year ahead. That’s why “New Year’s Resolutions” are encouraging. Perhaps the following might bring us closer to what we hope for...

Peace...Resolution: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” (Yes, we learned that from Mom -- but many folks have forgotten that. Gossip, harsh words, unkind judgmental criticism abound in all areas of society -- family, school, work, church) This resolution might not stop the world’s wars, but peace begins right at home.

Prosperity...Resolution: “I’ll give thanks to God by sharing more of what I’ve been given.” You know how much our parish does to help folks spiritually and materially. Have you changed the amount you’ve contributed to this work, or is it the same as it has been over the past years? A new year is a time to consider what the parish needs are and to share what God has given. Take a look at the center pages of this bulletin to see our annual financial report. We encourage your ongoing support of the parish.

Health...Resolution: “I’ll take better care of myself.” This is not only about counting calories or exercising physically, but also about growing spiritually. Let’s pick one spiritual exercise in the year ahead to grow in a healthy way in our relationship with God and the church.

Happiness...Resolution... “ I’ll seek happiness in the right ways.” Countless hours in front of the TV or computer vs. being with people, helping those in need, sharing our time and talents
-- which leads to true happiness and fulfillment? Let’s get happy!
