Up and Coming...

Sister Marie Patrick
Forty years ago Sister Marie Patrick became a School Sister of Notre Dame and has served the people of God as a religious sister ever since. For the last quarter of a century, her ministry has been among us at St. Brigid’s School and in our Religious Education program as well.
Today we celebrate her anniversary and thank God for her ministry among us. Countless young people have been formed in the faith due to the caring wsork of Sr. Marie Patrick.

More Rebates
We happily received another rebate check from the diocese ($227.65) because of additional contributions to the Catholic Ministries appeal. Thanks to those who recently contributed. If you haven’t given so far this year, would you make a contribution this week and help us reach our goal?

At College?
At St. Brigid’s we like to stay in touch through
e-mail “letters from home.”
Once a person has an e-mail address at school (or if he/she uses a personal address), please let us know what it is so we can include them when we write.
Here's a handy college link so you can send this info online.

There are a number of “projects” in the works for the months ahead. Here are three of them:

Continuing ways to protect our children. We’ve been participating in the diocesan program of criminal background checks for our employees. In addition we’re asking all parish volunteers to sign a “Code of Conduct” that outlines positive behaviors as well as inappropriate behaviors for all who work in our parish. We continued to create an environment that children and their families can be safe in.

Parish Census. Actually we were hoping to do this last year but due to some technology problems, we never got it going. The last Census was taken in 1984 so we need to update our records not only for new parishioners but also those who have lived here for “generations.” An update of information will make it much easier to plan for our future and to meet current needs. We hope to be starting this very soon. Details to follow.

Pastoral Council. Years ago, parishes had “Parish Councils” which were involved in sharing information, discussing ideas with the pastor and/or staff, helping with fundraising, etc. Today the work of a “Pastoral Council” is much different. Today’s council is charged with describing the direction the parish ought to grow in and discovering a vision and mission for the parish community.

I’m taking some early steps to call together a group of people who are representative of the different aspects of our parish to begin the process of looking to the future of our parish. The goal is to involve all interested parishioners in the vision process as it develops. Please pray that our first steps toward this will be blessed.
