In my humble opinion...

Speaking Together
The New York State Catholic Bishops have formed a statewide Catholic Advocacy Network of concerned Catholics who want to put their faith into action. Together we can speak out in support of the poor and vulnerable, the sick and elderly, the unborn, children and families. It’s easy to join this network and there is no cost. If you use the internet, you can join online at www.nyscatholic.org or you can send your name, address and phone number to: Catholic Advocacy Network, New York State Catholic Conference, 465 State Street, Albany NY 12203-1004. Be sure to indicate your areas of interest (choose any or all): Family Life/Respect Life, Education, Criminal Justice, Health Care, Human Services/Social Justice), and mention that you belong to St. Brigid’s the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
At College?
At St. Brigid’s we like to stay in touch through
e-mail “letters from home.”
Once a person has an e-mail address at school (or if he/she uses a personal address), please let us know what it is so we can include them when we write.
Here's a handy college link so you can send this info online.

In today’s gospel, Jesus urges us to be humble. So in an attempt to feign humility, I’ll forgo sharing my own thoughts and present these random quotes on humility. (Ok,, I’m taking a few more vacation days and I don’t want to work too hard!!)

"I've never had a humble opinion. If you've got an opinion, why be humble about it?"
-Joan Baez

- Helen Keller
“To be humble to superiors is duty, to equals courtesy, to inferiors nobleness.”

“The sufficiency of my merit is to know that my merit is not sufficient. -- St. Augustine.
“What kills a skunk is the publicity it gives itself.” -Abraham Lincoln
“Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more.”
-Mark Twain
“It is far more impressive when others discover your good qualities without your help”. -Author Unknown
“Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple’
-Barry Switzer
“When science discovers the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed to find they are not it”. -Bernard Baily
"If I only had a little humility I would be perfect" - Ted Turner

form of self-respect to admit mistakes and to make amends for them.” - John McCloy
