Daniel the Seminarian

May 21st

I was at Church this past weekend when the parish bid farewell and prayed for Daniel Opoku-Mensah, the Seminarian who was visiting with us this last year.  It was also the first time that I heard Daniel give the homily, which was inspired, entertaining and had audience participation.  Daniel’s homily expanded, in part, on one of the themes in the second reading, John 4:11-16:

Beloved, if God so loved us,
we also must love one another.
No one has ever seen God.
Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us,
and his love is brought to perfection in us.

How do we follow this directive, Daniel summed it up simply, with J.O.Y. – Jesus, Others, You. We find true JOY, when we Love Jesus, others and then yourself.
We wish Daniel continued success and prayers as he continues his journey to Priesthood.

  1. I wish I had been at that mass to hear Daniel’s homily. Thank you for relaying his message and how appropriate that his message should be one of J.O.Y.! Now I know what feeds that beautiful smile of his.
